This render showcases a custom BMW M3 modeled by, and commercially. I’ve constructed the background elements and composed the scene in 3D Studio MAX 5.1 As part of the texturing process I created a complex multi-layer, raytraced paint material that IMHO really captures the metalic silver well. I had a lot of fun with the puddles, even though the added significantly to the render time. This was rendered in several passes (one taking over 7.5 hours on a dual 2.0GHz Xeon box!) and composited in Photoshop. the hole in the hood is now covered by a rear induction cowl. I also fiddled with the reflections to make them less mirror like. Better?
